In 1936, the world was once again heading towards the brink of a major war. Germany was rearming; Japan was expanding its influence in East Asia; and Italy harboured ambitions in the Mediterranean. The Soviet Union was pushing ahead with industrialisation; the United States was reeling from the aftermath of the Great Depression; whilst Britain and France were struggling to maintain the international order. —From separatist movements, independence factions, governments-in-exile and puppet states, right through to autonomous cities and even the great powers— Players may select a single nation from across the globe, or even a faction or regime—whether large or small, official or unofficial—and take command of its politics, diplomacy, economy, military, industry, research and development, or even its path towards independence or unification. Formulate national policies, build factories, prepare for war, and determine foreign policy. You can even alter the political system itself to build a nation that diverges from historical reality. However, every policy requires a corresponding amount of time, resources and political support. Nations act in accordance with their own interests, leading to wars, political upheavals, revolutions, economic crises and diplomatic incidents. Will you recreate history, or rewrite it? The fate of the nation rests on your decisions. A historically accurate Second World War nation-building simulation inspired by Hearts of Iron IV. Argon is recommended for the first turn only; Gemini 3.7 or Gemini 3.8 Flash is recommended from the second turn onwards. ――――― Examples of nations by difficulty level ☆ (Easy): The United States as of 1945 └ An unquestionably easy difficulty level. There is no difficulty level easier than this. ☆☆ (Normal): Germany └ A nation you can genuinely enjoy. At this difficulty level, the United States and the Soviet Union also fall into this category. However, they are by no means invincible, so if you let your guard down, you may find yourself on the receiving end of a merciless counterattack. ☆☆☆ (Hard): Japan └ Highly recommended for everyone from beginners to seasoned players! You can enjoy a wide range of paths, from democracy to totalitarianism. Other nations at this difficulty level include the United Kingdom, Italy and Sweden. ☆☆☆☆ (Very Hard): Austria └ You will certainly face annihilation unless you fight tooth and nail to improve the current situation or change your political course. Other nations at this difficulty level include France, Finland, Switzerland, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Hungary and the Red Army. Can you revive the Dual Monarchy? ☆☆☆☆☆ (Hardcore): Free City of Danzig └ If you select this nation and manage to survive until the end of the war, you are a LoF expert. Other nations at this difficulty level include Tibet, the Bhutan independence route and Luxembourg. ☆☆☆☆☆☆ (Ultra-Hardcore): Liechtenstein └ This is an ordeal. If you’re not careful, it might even be harder than playing as a government-in-exile. For those capable of playing as Liechtenstein, we also recommend San Marino, Angola and Tannu-Tuva. Furthermore, the Vatican City State, whilst possessing the greatest ecclesiastical authority, has a population of only a few hundred, so it is recommended for those who are not satisfied even by the Ultra-Hardcore difficulty ⍼ (Unusual Choice): Welsh Independence Movement └ Let us secure Welsh independence by supporting either the Baronetage of Dinevar—descendants in the female line of the Gwynedd dynasty that once ruled Wales—or the House of Anwil, descendants in the male line of the Gwynedd dynasty, and restore the greatness of Britannia once more.
